Harun Kiruki holds a PhD in Environmental Science from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with research on the impact of charcoal production on woodland degradation and land cover change in South Eastern Kenya. He also holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Forestry from Moi University. Harun currently teaches and conducts research in forestry and environmental sciences. He is actively involved in promoting Farmer-Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) as a landscape restoration method, collaborating with NGOs and community groups. At South Eastern Kenya University, he leads a student FMNR initiative, encouraging knowledge sharing and capacity building through online FMNR courses.
