Ketut Putra has more than 25 years of experience in nature conservation. His areas of professional interests include supporting the development of national regulations on marine conservation, endangered species, sustainable development programs, sustainable financing strategies and various initiatives with key stakeholders at local, national and international levels.

As Vice President of Conservation International Indonesia, Ketut provides strategic and compelling guidance for all CI Indonesia’s programs, and provides advice on conservation and sustainable development to Indonesian policymakers based on scientific evidence, field demonstrations, innovations and lessons learned from the fields.

Ketut joined CI Indonesia in 2004 and since then, has established number of conservation initiatives, including the Blue Carbon initiative with pilot project in Kaimana, West Papua; Ridge to Reefs approach for conservation and sustainable development, Sustainable Landscapes Partnerships (SLP) in North Sumatra as a comprehensive landscapes approach, the Bird’s Head Seascape (BHS) in West Papua that became a global model for a community-based marine conservation; and various sustainable conservation financing mechanisms, including the Blue Abadi Fund for West Papua.
