Katie is the Director of Business Development for Kijani Forestry, a social enterprise based in northern Uganda. Kijani partners with smallholder farmers to reduce deforestation and generate income through agroforestry and sustainable charcoal production. In the last two years alone, Kijani has planted over 1,000,000 trees in partnership with over 1,500 farmers. Katie manages the resource development of the organization and oversees the monitoring and evaluation of Kijani’s programs, including social, economic, and environmental impacts. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Sustainable Development Practice at the University of Florida, where she is focusing her research on gender equity in agroforestry value chains in Uganda.
