Dr. Kate Dooley, is a political geographer whose research looks at the politics of land-use in climate mitigation policies and equitable approaches to land transitions. Kate received a PhD from the University of Melbourne and is currently an ARC DECRA Senior Research Fellow in the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Kate was the lead author of the 2022 Land Gap Report which provided the first global assessment of land area in national climate mitigation pledges. Her research aims to provide a better evidence base for climate policy on land-based mitigation options and how these are integrated into climate mitigation targets. She serves on the Natural Ecosystems Advisory Board for the Minderoo Foundation and is a member of the Expert Network for Climate Integrity.
