She also serves as a project assistant professor at Keio University. She was formerly a research associate at the National Institute for Environmental Studies and a research fellow at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Her educational background includes earning a Ph.D. at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and a Master of Arts at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. She also studied at the International Institute for Applied System Analysis. She was a visiting scholar at the University of California in Santa Barbara.
