Jonathan Davies

Dr. Davies coordinates the Global Drylands Initiative and is the Global Agriculture Programme Lead at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). He leads IUCN’s work on sustainable land management, rangeland restoration and sustainable pastoralism. Also, he is developing IUCN’s program of work on sustainable agriculture and conservation and is IUCN’s representative to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). He has extensive experience in landscape management and restoration, communal governance and resource rights, assessment of land health, ecosystem service valuation, policy design and mobilizing investment for ecosystem rehabilitation. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics with over 25 years of experience in sustainable development and conservation particularly in Africa, Asia and Europe.
