Jochen Flasbarth is State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) of Germany. An economist by training, he has dedicated his career to advancing environmental protection and sustainable development in Germany and internationally. He previously served as State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), President of the German Environment Agency (UBA), and President of NABU (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union). A long-standing advocate for climate action and nature conservation, he continues to champion ambitious global cooperation toward ecological integrity, climate resilience, and a just green transition.
