Dr. Shun earned his PhD from the Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University in 2016. He specializes in long-term field studies that combine scientific methods, such as camera trapping, with local hunting knowledge to develop wildlife management models for tropical rainforests. He began his current role at the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) in 2024 and has previously worked at the Primate Research Institute at Kyoto University, the Center for African Area Studies at Kyoto University and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
