Giovana Girardi is a journalist with a focus on science and environmental reporting since 2002. She has worked as a reporter for Estadão, co-founding editor of Unesp Ciência magazine, reporter for Folha de S. Paulo, assistant editor at Scientific American, and editor at Galileu magazine. In 2022, she launched the narrative podcast Tempo Quente (Rádio Novelo), investigating the political and economic forces that benefit from Brazil’s inaction on deforestation and climate change. She has twice received the Atlantic Forest Biodiversity Reporting Award (2011 and 2013) and, in 2017, the Excellence in Journalism Award from the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) in the Data Journalism category. She was a fellow of the Knight Science Journalism program at MIT (2014-2015) and the Logan Science Journalism program at the Marine Biological Laboratory in 2015.Â
