Esther is the Global Advocacy Director for the Stand for Her Land (S4HL) Campaign, a global initiative ( https://stand4herland.org/) hosted by Landesa . “We are committed to the achievement of the 2030 Global Goals, and are convinced that securing women land rights and control over natural resources is pre-condition to the advancement of economic justice & rights, food security, just climate transition and overall gender equality and sustainable development”. Previously, Esther worked for two years as the Global Women Land Rights Manager for the International Land Coalition. She led the development of the Women Land Rights Collective Commitment, an important contribution to the Generation Equality Forum. The 1995 UN Women Conference held in Beijing China cemented Esther’s commitment to the value, leadership and agency of grassroots women. Her conviction is that sustainable progress only happens if people living in poverty and in the margins of development take centre stage to finding long term and sustained solutions. An expert in Gender, Governance and Development, she has served and has spoken in various regional and global platforms to advance women’s human rights.
