Emem Umoh is a Conservation Biologist from Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. She has diligently contributed to nature conservation for over two decades in different capacities and sectors including government, corporate and civil society organizations. She is the founder and currently the Chief Executive Officer of Women in Nature Conservation Organization (WINCO); the first Women-led Non-Governmental Organization established exclusively for nature conservation in Nigeria. Recently, Emem emerged the coordinator of one of the newly established Global Landscapes Forum (GLFx) Uyo Chapter, Nigeria. She has initiated many conservation-based projects including Ibom Greener Project Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria which is the focus of the GLFx Uyo Chapter with the goal to set the pace for the establishment of a national park in Akwa Ibom State. Prior to this, Emem got commendation from Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund(CEPF) after she successfully coordinated a challenging 2-year mangrove restoration project in Nigeria, under CEPF’s Small Grant Program.
