Ellie Copeland is a member of UNESCO’s Ethics of AI Unit, where she contributes to the implementation of UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI – the first global framework to promote the ethical development, deployment, and use of AI. In particular, her work focuses on advancing UNESCO’s Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM), a diagnostic tool designed to help policymakers analyse their AI ecosystems and craft tailored strategies to enhance AI readiness. Before joining UNESCO, Ellie worked in the UK Civil Service, supporting Chairs and Chief Executives of UK public bodies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public service delivery. She is currently completing a master’s degree in ‘Digital, New Technology, and Public Policy’ at Sciences Po.
