At the Conservation Finance and Enterprise team at FFI, Dorothea focuses on creating a direct link between healthy forests and improved well-being of forest-dependent communities and on providing financial incentives for avoided or reduced deforestation through payments for ecosystem services and REDD+. She has over two decades of experience in researching tropical forest ecosystems, their composition and history, their response to human activities and their conservation.
Prior to that, she served as technical advisor for UNESCO and has lived and worked in Malawi, Trinidad and Tobago, Thailands, Switzerland and Indonesia. Dorothea holds a PhD in Ecology from the University of Lausanne.
