Dietmar is a leading value chain R&D around the globe. Spanning natural and social sciences and public and private partnerships, he supports smallholders and SMEs to enhance their benefits from sustainable land management through the development of agricultural, biomass, and forest product value chains. Engaging with public and private sectors and civil society organizations, he fosters evidence-based scaling. Holding an MSc in forest sciences and a PhD in forest economics from the University of Freiburg, Germany, former assignments include Program Leader at Bioversity International, France and CATIE, Costa Rica; Research Coordinator in the Bolivian Amazon; and Community Forestry Advisor in Nepal.
