Ciniro Costa Junior

Ciniro Costa Junior is a Climate and Food System Specialist with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT of the CGIAR, contributing with several CGIAR initiatives, especially under the Multifunctional Landscapes, the Livestock, Climate and Systems Resilience (LCSR) and the One Sustainable Finance. Previously, he worked as the Science Officer for the Low-Emission Development research theme of CCAFS-CGIAR. Ciniro Costa Junior received a Doctoral degree in Sciences from University of São Paulo and worked as a Research Scholar at the University of New Hampshire and as a Postdoc fellow at The Woods Hole Research Center. His expertise includes climate change mitigation in the agriculture sector, including MRV of emissions, soil carbon, net-zero actions, carbon markets, and policy analyses. Among others, he has led and collaborated in projects with several multilateral banks and development agencies; and net-zero strategies for global food companies. He is also a Brazil’s nominated expert to the UNFCCC and is part of the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) Agri-food Transitions Advisory Group.
