Christoph Strupat is senior researcher at the German Development Institute (DIE). Dr. Christoph Strupat works in the areas of social protection, health and applied economics. He conducts several projects across Africa and Asia that study the design features and impacts of social protection and health insurance schemes. Furthermore, he is a regular adviser of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on social protection and health. Before joining the DIE, he worked as a health economist at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where he coordinated and conducted a research project of the German Research Foundation (DFG) on the economic and social impacts of the Spanish Flu pandemic. He further worked as researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Economic Research (RWI) and the Institute of Public Health at the University of Heidelberg. Christoph holds a PhD in Economics from the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics and the Ruhr-University Bochum. His research findings have been published in leading journals, including World Development and Health Economics.
