Chris Dickinson is Ecosystem Management Senior Specialist at the Green Climate Fund where he is responsible for the development of strategies, policies and technical documents focused on ecosystem management and investment. One of his key tasks is coordinating and supporting investments in restoring and managing Africa’s Great Green Wall. Chris has over 25 years’ experience in tackling the challenges of maintaining productive ecosystems and landscapes whilst enhancing food security, maintaining water provisioning services and building climate resilience. He has worked at all levels with national governments and communities gaining extensive experience in developing ecosystem-based approaches. Previously he served as the Head of Sustainable Landscapes and Deputy Director of GGGI’s Investment and Policy Solutions Division, covering countries in Asia, Pacific, Latin America, and Africa. Moreover, he has previously worked as Deputy Director of the Forest Sector Transformation Unit in Ethiopia; and conducted extensive work in Africa, Central Asia and SouthEast Asia. Chris holds a PhD degree in Biodiversity from the University of Birmingham (UK).
