Dr. Charles Wendo is a media trainer, science journalist, and veterinarian with more than 20 years’ experience in the media. He trains journalists on how to report science and scientists on communicating research. He has also provided technical support to four African universities to introduce science journalism into their journalism and communication curricula.
Prior to joining SciDev.Net, Charles worked with New Vision newspaper of Uganda as a science writer, science editor, Saturday Vision editor and Sunday Vision editor. He also worked with the Infectious Diseases Institute of Makerere University in Uganda as communication specialist for two years.
In 2019 Charles was a member of the jury at the Falling Walls Science Engagement of the Year competition in Berlin, Germany. He has also been a judge at two national journalism awards in Uganda.
Charles holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and Communication, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree; all from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
