Beatrice Kabihogo

Beatrice is a founder and current leader of Uplift the Rural Poor (URP). URP is a community-based organisation that has worked for 20 years with communities adjunct to the highly biodiversity areas of Bwindi National Park, Mgahinga National Park and Echuya Forest Reserve in Kisoro District within the Greater Virunga Landscape. URP aims to reduce pressures on protected areas and support adoption of better production methods that can benefit local communities. Beatrice has taken her organization to a high level of recognition, including winning a UNDP Equator Prize (2014) and a Kisoro District local government Best Performance Award (2019).
