Barakalla Robyn is the Low Carbon Development Initiative Senior Program Lead of WRI Indonesia, streamlining several initiatives such as New Climate Economy (NCE), Food and Land Use (FOLU), Tracking and Strengthening Climate Actions (TASCA), Nationally Determined Contribution Partnership (NDC-P) in Indonesia. Focus in undertaking systematic social economy assessment, quantitative and spatial analyses to support the development of the next National Mid-Term Development Planning (RPJMN 2020-2024) and Indonesia Vision 2045 Roadmap Document developed by Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS).

He holds a master’s degree in environmental engineering management from University of Technology Sydney and a bachelor’s degree in physical geography & environment from Gadjah Mada University.

Prior to joining WRI, Barakalla have led the Blue Carbon Initiative in Conservation International,on blue carbon measurements on the ground in Kaimana Regency, West Papua together with CIFOR, Institute of Marine Research and Observation and also University of Papua. Together with partners, he has generated the blue carbon stock number throughout Kaimana Regency. He has also been involved in several sustainable fisheries management projects, customary fisheries through which he gain experience in relations to West Papua communities and tribes.

Previously, he has also worked for Zoological Society of London, focusing on private sector engagement for Sumatran Tiger conservation in Berbak-Sembilang and at the same time served as a POME waste management and stakeholder engagement for Rainforest Alliance.
