Dr. Ayesha K. Khan, is the Regional Managing Director at Acumen. Ayesha has a strong background in business strategy, economic policy and international development. She has previously worked as the head of strategy at HBL – the largest bank in Pakistan. She was the first person to hold that position at the bank and her major responsibilities included aligning corporate focus, defining core capabilities, and articulating a comprehensive plan to achieve long-term strategic goals. She has also worked in New York as a management consultant with McKinsey and Company, where she focused on the financial sector, and at UNDP, where she was a consultant with the Millennium Development Project. Currently at Acumen, Dr. Khan is spearheading the design of a 90M USD impact fund titled “Acumen Climate Action Pakistan (ACAP)”. ACAP is going to be the first climate fund in a highly vulnerable region with a unique fund structure and catalytic investment thesis. ACAP Fund will invest in growth stage companies leveraging technology to transform agriculture and food systems and build the climate resilience of millions of vulnerable farmers. The fund aims to impact 15M lives with a focus on the poor and most vulnerable. Dr. Khan is the first person from Pakistan to get a doctorate from the prestigious Harvard Business School, where she focused on understanding how to build successful businesses in emerging markets. She has authored various case studies on international business strategy and published several articles focused on emerging markets for different publications – including the Harvard Business Review. Dr. Khan also holds a Masters in International Development (MPA-ID) from the Harvard Kennedy School; she completed her undergraduate degree in Economics from Princeton University.
