LEWMO

Alvin is the founding chairperson of Lucky Summer Environmental Waste Management Organization (LEWMO), a Social Entrepreneur, a Soccer Coach and a youth mentor. LEWMO is based in Lucky Summer off Thika Road, Ruaraka Sub County, Nairobi, Kenya. Beginning 2018 up to 2022, Alvin spearheaded the closing down of 15 illegal dumpsites and consolidated waste disposal to one dumpsite in Lucky Summer. This was done in collaboration with the county government, Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) and the National Environmental Management Authority. Two of the illegal dumpsites have since been transformed into community recreation parks by LEWMO. So far, LEWMO has planted over 5000 fruit trees in government institutions, schools, hospitals, and along 30 meters of riparian land in Ruaraka Sub County, Nairobi. To mark World Environment Day 2022, Alvin launched a tree nursery with a capacity of 5000 trees. In 2018, LEWMO established a football team, Lucky Summer All-Stars, with Alvin as the founding coach to engage and mentor the youths in the community. Alvin would go on to complete a soccer coaching course by Gems Cambridge International School in 2020. Lucky Summer All-Stars won the 2020 Ruaraka Super Cup and, in 2021, established a Youth Academy for footballers aged 9-18 years.
