Fiona Flintan is a senior scientist at ILRI with more than 20 years of experience working in Africa and Asia in land tenure and governance, gender, political ecology, NRM, conflict resolution/transformation and particularly in pastoral areas. She is based between ILRI in Ethiopia and IFAD in Rome. She has played a leading role in the development of participatory rangeland management approaches and land use planning in the East Africa region working closely with governments and other stakeholders. She coordinates the global component of the Rangelands Initiative of the International Land Coalition which is a knowledge management, capacity building and influencing global platform working on land governance and tenure in rangelands – see www.rangelandsinitiative.org
