Gabriel Labbate is Head of the UNREDD team at the UN Environment Programme. With formal training in biology and economics, his work has been mostly interdisciplinary with focus on the integration of social issues into environmental policy including environmental valuation, poverty analysis and debt for environment swaps. As part of his work on UNREDD, he focuses on opportunity costs of REDD+ policies, carbon markets and REDD+ transactions. He has accumulated more than 20 years of work experience in Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe.
