Landscape Impact Fund: Leveraging nature-based emission reductions and landscape initiatives

South Pole is currently developing a funding platform that enables forward-looking investors to stay ahead of their sustainability commitments and achieve landscape-level transformational SDG impact. The platform provides three different funding streams: supply chain impact, carbon impact, and landscape/project activities. These are tailored to support investors deliver on their commitments for sustainable supply chains or emission reduction targets, and to create thriving landscapes as a basis for sustainable development. The platform starts out with results-based finance using premium carbon credits and defined supply chain sustainability impact as a return to investors. Additionally, the fund pooling model also catalyzes further private and public capital to match the enormity of the challenges it addresses globally and leverage synergies for investors. The funding platform aims to stimulate the following specific financing sources: commercial loans from local banks; grants, guarantees, and loans from multilateral organizations, philanthropic foundations, and development finance institutions; and co-investments from impact investors and funds.
