Host: Laure D’Astorg, Alliance for the Preservation of Forests
Sector-wide approaches, developed in silos so far, have not been effective in fighting deforestation. With an urgency to act in a concerted way, the multi-sector approach is the only way to stop deforestation according to the scientific community and NGOs.
The Alliance for the Preservation of Forests aims to bring together all committed private sector actors to succeed in preserving the last remaining tropical forests and ecosystems of the world, supported by NGOs and governments. This is in line with the Paris Agreement, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the New York Declaration on Forests and the Amsterdam Declarations.
The Alliance for the Preservation of Forests is a group of responsible companies convinced of the value of a collective action – different from the sum of the individual actions of the companies – to turn the whole of the supply chains towards more sustainability.
