Ronnakorn Triraganon is a Senior Strategic Advisor at RECOFTC, with a distinguished career in community-based natural resource management since the 1980s. Previously, he led RECOFTC’s capacity development and technical services unit, overseeing more than 40 research and capacity-building projects at both regional and national levels. Ron is recognized for his expertise in promoting local communities’ knowledge, customary rights, and participatory governance, ensuring sustainable forest management and equitable benefit sharing. His background spans participatory processes, forestry extension, and community-based climate change adaptation and mitigation. Ron has played a pivotal role in advancing community-based forest landscape management, an approach that empowers local people to manage forests sustainably while integrating ecological, social, and economic objectives. He has facilitated participatory processes that enable communities to take active roles in decision-making, resource stewardship, and benefit sharing, fostering collaborative management systems that balance biodiversity conservation with improved livelihoods. His work has contributed to climate resilience and equitable resource distribution across Asia, the Pacific, and Eastern Africa. Through his leadership, Ron has helped ensure that traditional knowledge and community rights are respected and incorporated into forest governance, making him one of the most experienced facilitators in the field.
