Peruvian, he studied at the Faculty of Forest Sciences at the National Agrarian University La Molina in Lima, Peru, and holds a master’s degree in Natural Forest Management from the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) in Costa Rica. He is a professor and researcher in the Master’s program in Forest and Biodiversity Management at CATIE, with over 30 years of experience in community forest management, silviculture, and the management of natural forests across various Latin American countries. He has served as an advisory committee member for more than 80 master’s theses. He has extensive experience in forest governance and currently holds the position of General Manager of the Latin American Model Forest Network, which operates in 15 countries and 32 territories across the region.
