Edwin Castellanos is the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Guatemala. He is an expert in environmental sciences with 37 years of professional experience, highly qualified in multinational and multidisciplinary projects. He holds a degree in Chemistry from the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, a PhD in Environmental Sciences from Indiana University, USA, and a Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry from Michigan State University, USA. He has experience working with different sectors in Guatemala, Mesoamerica, and the Americas on issues related to natural resource management and global change. He is a world-renowned expert on climate change issues. He is the lead author of the Fifth and Sixth Reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He is currently the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change at MARN.
