Sumarni Laman was born in Kalimantan and belong to Dayak Ngaju tribe. Featured as one of 16 women who has restored the Earth 2021 by Global Landscapes Forum, she has led several climate action movements to raise awareness on climate crisis and empower people to be part of the solution. She is currently running The Heartland Project; a collective solidarity tree-planting movement where youths from various places in Indonesia took part in reforestation efforts.
