Norbert Gorissen leads the International Policy Directorate at the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, which includes the International Climate Initiative (IKI). He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the RWTH University in Aachen and occupied several positions at the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) in the field of transport and environment before joining the Federal Environment Ministry in 1999. He also served as EU lead negotiator for climate finance in the Paris Agreement and initiated the OECD report “Investing in Climate, Investing in Growth” during Germany’s G20 Presidency in 2017.
