Karin Kemper is the Senior Director of the World Bank’s Environment and Natural Resources Global Practice. In this role, Dr. Kemper leads a team of over 300 professionals who develop policies, technical assistance and financing in areas such as the Blue Economy, pollution management, forests, landscapes and climate change. Prior to assuming her current position, other leadership roles included Senior Regional Advisor in the Office of the Vice President of the Latin America and Caribbean Region and Director of Climate Policy and Finance.
Dr. Kemper has held a variety of managerial positions in environment and water resources at the World Bank, both in South Asia and the Latin America and Caribbean regions. She has published extensively on the economics of water resources management and led studies on natural resources and environmental management worldwide. Dr. Kemper is a German national and holds a Ph.D. in Water and Environmental Studies and a B.Sc. in International Business Administration and Economics from Linköping University in Sweden.
