As head of the Independent Evaluation Unit at the Green Climate Fund (GCF), it is Dr. Jyotsna Puri’s job to ensure that this financial institution is accountable and open to continuous learning. The fund is part of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and helps developing countries limit or reduce their emissions and adapt to climate change.
During her career spanning more than 20 years, Dr. Puri has worked for multilateral agencies such as the World Bank and both the UN Development and Environment programmes. She has authored numerous publications and books on methods to assess environmental agencies and initiatives such as these.
Before joining the Fund, she served as deputy executive director and head of evaluation at the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation. She is also an adjunct associate professor at the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University in Manhattan. Dr. Puri holds a master’s degree in development economics, and a Ph.D. in agriculture and resource economics.
