Betty Osei Bonsu is an environmentalist who is very passionate about nature. Upon witnessing the rapid loss of forests to unsustainable energy demands, she led the authorship of the first paper in Ghana which focuses on renewable alternative energy using palm kernel shells. Through this, she joined the Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) to champion sustainable energy transition for communities while reducing the rapid loss of forests. She serves as Project Coordinator and is responsible for the implementation and replication of the GAYO Sustainable Community Project (SCP). As a young female innovator, she co-founded the Trees 4 Biodiversity initiative, where she has grown over 1,500 trees with community members to restore biodiversity. She is recognized as a young environmental leader through her efforts in executing global leadership programs including her contribution to the recently launched GLF Biodiversity report.
