Avexnim Cojti, Maya K’iche’, is from Chuwila, Guatemala. She is a sociologist and a Maya calendar ancient knowledge keeper from her community. She has a degree in Indigenous Government Studies from the Institute of Indigenous Government, Vancouver, British Columbia, and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Regina, both in Canada. Most of her experience is in managing and delivering programs and projects that aim to support the self-determination and rights of Indigenous communities globally. Avex formerly served as the Program Manager for the Community Media and Indigenous Rights Radio Programs.
