Filmmaker, surf photographer and founder
Pocket Bread

Justin Davey is a filmmaker, surf photographer and founder of Pocket Bread – a sustainably sourced, small-batch clothing brand.

After studying Geography (BA) at University of Exeter and Global Affairs (MSc) at NYU and several years working in marketing and tech in New York City, Justin started making short films in 2014 in LA. In 2016, his comedic short film Adulting explored issues of identity and the uncertainty of life for a young woman in West Ireland. It won awards and screened at around 20 film festivals.

His first independent documentary, Now or Never/Montana Divided: A Climate Change Story (2018), took him to the melting glaciers of Glacier National Park to understand the Montanan perspective on this politicized issue. It screened at several film festivals.

In July 2019, he finished Into The Jungle, a short documentary on successful conservation efforts in Bardiya National Park, Nepal where the government uses military force to protect tigers/rhinos/wildlife against poachers. It screened at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival.

Hidden Heroes (2020) is a short documentary that introduces you to a Sea Warden protecting a fragile marine reserve and a Mangrove Protector in two remote communities on Negros Oriental in the Philippines. About a Doc (2020) by Michael Du provides some backstory for the making of the film.
