Joshua Borokinni

YIL alumnus, climate activist, development campaigner and writer

Borokinni Joshua is a Nigerian climate activist, development campaigner and writer who believes in sustainable development that is founded on inclusivity, equality and justice for all, including the planet. He holds a Bachelors degree in Physiology from the University of Benin and currently works with LearnBlue, a Gen Z led and focused non-profit, as the head of research, where he coordinates evidence-based policy and programs design. Over the past three years, Joshua has consistently leveraged media to drive action-oriented campaigns, this includes but not limited to – #SafeClimate4Africa, #ForACleanerLagos, and #NaijaGoesVegan. These campaigns have reached an estimated 5 million people and birthed several interventions, such as, the clean-up of a 20 tonne waste settlement, increased commitment to climate action from young people, and greener production and consumption patterns. He is a member of the Resilient40 network, International Congress of Youth Voices (ICYV), UN MGCY and Youth in Landscape (YIL). His work has been featured by the Bill Clinton Initiative University, Hult Prize, The Guardian, Illustoria Magazine, DW Africa among others. Joshua envisions a carbon-neutral world where economic development is guided by environmental justice, a world his children and grand-children will be proud to inherit.
