Emmanuela Shinta is a Dayak leader, activist, environmentalist, filmmaker and writer with a reputation for leading and empowering young people. Her work has been recognized widely in Asia Pacific, including being the icon of Asian Geographic issue 117 Planet Under Fire and featured in UNICEF Global White Paper Women Health & Climate 2017. In 2016, Shinta started Youth Act Campaign, a movement which call out for young people to actively engage in demanding climate justice and involve in climate action as the response to forest fire and haze that has happened in Kalimantan since 1997.

With organization called Ranu Welum Foundation which she founded in 2016, she has trained more than 150 young indigenous people to be able to use camera to tell their causes including the rights of indigenous people and environmental issues. She has been speaking on behalf of her communities in regional and international forum about public misconception on Dayak people and bringing the stories from the ground up to global audience through short videos and documentaries. Her film entitled When Women Fight has been featured in various international festivals & forums. She is the founder of Bali International Indigenous Film Festival dan Kalimantan Indigenous Film Festival. Since 2018, Shinta has started her first world storytelling tour with theme Stories That Matter in the United States, Australia, India dan several main cities in Indonesia where she has book launch, video showcase, art performance dan talk show.

Emmanuela Shinta is the Founder and Executive Director of Ranu Welum Foundation, ALIVE Global Ministry, and EL Creative Production. She is also the founder of DANUM Magazine and the author of ENLIGHTENED (2016) and ME, MODERNISM AND MY INDIGENOUS ROOTS (2018).
