Caroline Ochieng is a Research Fellow at Stockholm Environment Institute. Her background is in public health with a focus on low income countries. Her research interests lie in understanding factors that influence uptake of health promoting technologies such as clean cookstoves and maternal and child health services, and how to overcome the barriers for technology adoption and use.

She is currently leading a Randomized Control Trial that aims to understand the role of conditional cash transfers (CCTs) in influencing health seeking behaviour among pregnant women in rural Western Kenya. Caroline has a PhD in Public Health and Policy from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, a Master’s in Public Health from Kenyatta University, and a BSc. in Environmental Studies from the same institution. Prior to joining SEI she was Graduate Teaching Assistant at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; and before that Teaching Assistant at Kenyatta University in Nairobi
