Yohanes has been conducting his master’s programme in Applied Climatology at Bogor Agricultural University since September 2015. He was awarded a PMDSU scholarship from Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of Indonesia for two years of his master study and another tuition funding from the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) for the third year. For his master’s project, he studies sedimentation and soil carbon accumulation rates in protected mangrove forests and their response to sea level rise on the east coast of North Sumatra, Indonesia. He applied a CRS model to assess sedimentation and soil C-acc rates due to the activity of lead isotope (210Pb). He analysed sediment cores in Laboratory of Isotope and Radiation at National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia from February to May 2017. His master’s project is a part of the Sustainable Wetlands Adaptation and Mitigation Programme at CIFOR, where he also works as a student intern. During his master’s programme, he had the opportunity to attend two training courses. The first training course was by attending the 2016 GOFC-GOLD Data Iniative-Advanced Training in Earth Observation where was held in Chonburi, Thailand. In the next year he participated in the 2017 NF-POGO-NUIG Ocean and Climate Scholars Programme II in Galway, Ireland.
