Joëlle Welfring joined the coalition government of Luxembourg as Minister for the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development on 2 May 2022. Before, on 1 April 2022, Joëlle had been appointed director of the national Environment Agency, where she had been serving as deputy director since 2014. From 2010 to 2014, she served as director of the Business Development department at the Henri Tudor Public Research Centre, after having directed the Resource Centre for Environmental Technologies (CRTE). Joëlle Welfring holds a master’s degree in biochemistry from Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg and a master’s degree in environmental sciences from Brunel University in London.
