Born and raised in the vibrant riverine communities of the Brazilian Amazon, Gabriel is an intradisciplinary biologist with a deep connection to his roots and a commitment to empowering local communities. He holds master’s degrees in both Taxonomy & Systematics of Invertebrates and Biodiversity Conservation, specializing in community-led biodiversity monitoring methodologies. As the Science Lead at GainForest, Gabriel collaborates closely with Indigenous and local communities to design innovative monitoring strategies that blend AI, traditional ecological knowledge, and digital payment systems. Above all, he is a proud Amazonian, driven by a passion for bridging science, technology, and community empowerment to protect the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of his homeland.
