The GLF is forming a global movement of 1 billion people in support of collective engagement, learning, and action to effectively build sustainable landscapes that deliver multiple benefits to some of the planet’s most vulnerable people. Taking a holistic, evidence-based approach to the world’s most complex and pressing development challenges, we promote transformational change at global, regional and country levels, and provide a global platform to connect and amplify the many initiatives already happening on the ground. The GLF has already connected more than 3,000 organizations and 25,000 people through our global gatherings, with an additional 32 million online.
In Bonn on 19 December 2017 the Opening Ceremony of the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) will be attended by luminaries and GLF core partners, with an inspirational address from H. E. Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President of Mauritius. The ceremony will run from 11:00–12:30 in the main hall of Bonn’s World Conference Centre. Over 1,000 participants will join with thousands more online as the ceremony will be livestreamed.
The Ceremony will launch the next 5-year phase of GLF. We will identify GLF’s role in effectively contributing to achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The GLF will explore the role of collaborative leadership – community and indigenous leaders, scientists, policy makers, practitioners – in shaping a movement to build sustainable landscapes that are more productive, profitable, equitable and resilient.
Speakers will demonstrate the key benefits of all sectors working together as one and highlight the potential impact of collective power and global community action working from the ground up.
