Zuhura Ahmad Shaweji is a Tanzanian gender-biodiversity advocate, environmental educator, and 2025 Oceans Restoration Steward. With a BSc in Chemistry and Biology from Sokoine University, she leads initiatives on biodiversity, climate action, and women’s leadership.
As head of programs at the Women in Recycling Foundation, she empowers over 100 women through circular economy practices. She co-founded the Global Youth Biodiversity Network Tanzania, engaging 2,000+ youth and women in conservation. A Youth4Nature Ambassador, she supports young women in nature-based economies through She Shapes Nature. Recognized with the 2021 Gender-Climate Award and named a Top 50 Rising Motherland Mogul (2024), Zuhura champions equitable, nature-based solutions in Tanzania and beyond.
