
Abera has a master’s degree in Land Management from the Royal Institute of Technology/KTH, Sweden. He has a first degree in Land Resource Management & Environmental Protection option Forestry and Diploma in Forestry from Mekelle University and Wondo Genet College of Forestry, Ethiopia, respectively. He has ample experience (23 yrs) as a natural resource expert, advisor and coordinator at GIZ projects in Ethiopia, with the Ethiopian Red Cross Society and Governmental Organizations. Abera has experience in forest development, forest management, protection of natural resources/soil, forest & water/ and land tenure. Currently, he is working as an advisor for Forestry and Biodiversity in the GIZ Forests for Future (F4F) project, Ethiopia-based at the field office, Arba Minch.
