After a satisfying career as a Fashion Designer in her native Botswana, Thato turned her sights on the farming industry. She likes to say, “not only will my family not go naked, they will also not go hungry”. Thato along with her business partners, husband Alpheus and brother Mokgacha, took their ancestral land which once belonged to their father and his mother before him to embark on a commercial farming enterprise. Innovating international best practices to embark upon climate smart farming. “At Tso 13, the farm we have deliberately taken our varied experiences from the corporate world back to the village with us to employ systems, structures and procedures that allow for sustained growth. The hope is to stem the rural-urban migration by showing a different face of farming,” she says.
