Stan Nkwain Prior to retiring from UNDP in September 2017, Stan Nkwain was Deputy Director and Special Adviser in the UNDP Bureau for Policy and Programme Support for 2 years. Before that he had served as Deputy Director of UNDP’s Bureau for Crisis Prevention and recovery (BCPR). Mr. Nkwain came to BCPR in 2008 from the UNDP Bureau for Africa where he had overseen the Bureau’s Strategy and Management Review. Since joining UNDP in 1985, Mr. Nkwain has served in positions of increasing responsibility as UNDP Senior Programme Officer in his home country of Cameroon, Deputy Resident Representative in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Benin, Haiti and Angola, and as RC/HC/RR in the Central African Republic from 2002 to 2005. As part of his responsibilities at UNDP Headquarters, Mr. Nkwain represented the UN Development Agencies, Funds and Programmes in HQ-based integrated mission processes, and in DPKO-led Strategic Reviews of Peacekeeping missions in Liberia, Cote D’Ivoire, Central African Republic, and, most recently, Mali. Mr. Nkwain also led the Secretary-General’s inter-agency and multi-partner Ebola Recovery Needs Assessment mission to Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone in 2015. Mr. Nkwain is presently Director a.i. of UNDP’s Regional Service Center for Africa (RSCA) in Addis Ababa. Mr. Nkwain holds a master’s degree in International Policy Studies from the University of Bristol, England and degrees in African Studies from the University of Yaoundé, Cameroon.
