Carmen Jaquez is the Senior Advisor for Livestock & Agriculture within the Technical Support Unit of Mercy Corps. Ms. Jaquez is a livelihood and market systems expert specialized in dairy and livestock economies in pastoralist, agro-pastoralist and peri-urban production systems and market sheds. She has worked in livestock and agriculture systems (production, input and output markets, value-addition) across East, Southern and West Africa since 1995. Working primarily as a program implementer and technical advisor, she is dedicated to data-based decision making for improved livestock productivity and addressing market inefficiencies in the delivery of safe and nutritious animal source foods to diverse consumers. With an initial background in natural resources management and animal health and seventeen years of direct field experience, Ms. Jaquez focuses on the nexus of economic development and human well-being, livestock production and ecosystem health.
