Kumi Kitamori is Deputy Director at the OECD Environment Directorate. She supports the Director in overseeing the work of the Environment Directorate, which provides relevant information, analysis and advice to governments on policies needed to support a cleaner, more resource-efficient and low-carbon green growth path, in coordination with other directorates and international organisations.
As Head of Green Growth & Global Relations Division, she oversaw the mainstreaming of green growth in the work of various OECD policy committees and in member and partner countries, including in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia. She has worked in the OECD Environment Directorate on various issues including emissions trading, carbon pricing and taxes, water pricing, green finance and investment, climate change, biodiversity, chemical safety, health & environment, among others. Prior to joining the OECD, she worked at the World Bank on industrial pollution and urban infrastructure projects in South and Southeast Asia.Kumi holds BA and MSc in development and economics from New York University and London School of Economics.
