Gilmer Yuimachi is a prominent member of the Paoyhan native community, located in Loreto, Peru. He completed his studies at the “Suiza” Higher Technological Institute and has a 25-year history working on development projects for native communities in the Amazon. Since 2015, he is founder, Vice President and Program Director of the Bari Wesna Intercultural Association.
Throughout his career, Gilmer has focused his efforts on strengthening capacities in community monitoring and surveillance, as well as reforestation and restoration activities. Their work is aimed at improving the organizational aspects and well-being conditions of native communities. In addition, it promotes the development of new management models for the territory and its natural resources, with the aim of conserving forests and generating sustainable local economic opportunities.
The Bari Wesna Intercultural Association, under his leadership, prioritizes the active participation of families in forest conservation as a source of local opportunities. This work effectively contributes to meeting global climate challenges, demonstrating a deep commitment to the sustainability and well-being of Amazonian communities.
